I know of several well-respected people with plenty of answers that don't have legal copies of the software they help people with.

Online "communities" do not hold prejudice against people because of the source of their software. If that's how you intend to go on, remove the word "community" from every one of your descriptions, since this is not, repeat not how a community treats innocent people seeking help. Not only that, I get a warning from mouse because I tried to get help. You have done that since you've not said you can't help me in any way, but instead refused to help me. I think it's time you got rid of the rug, and stopped sweeping people like me under it. My finances aren't exactly secure over the last month, and neither can I find somewhere that actually sells the game. However, I don't see this as a "dead issue", since not only is there no fix, but I am experiencing the problem (hardly dead then). This is a dead issue because it is fixed (download a small patch and change some registry settings and it works). Compare this to Transport Tycoon not running at all on Windows XP. AFAICS neither has happened in this case. In my book, an issue dies when no-one has the issue anymore, or the issue is fixed. I have also been told that this is apparently a "dead issue". I compare the treatment I am getting here to that I have got elsewhere (ties with developers aside, since there are other places with other software - just look at the microsoft.* newsgroups and see the number of MS MVPs: not actually employees, but with close ties - chipping in constructively). So, the way I see it, a Windows PC game is supposed to run on Windows PCs, with no two ways about it. Since I'm trying to get a Windows PC game to work on a Windows PC (PB or otherwhise, they're all still PCs with Windows), so I'm not seeing a problem. The first line seems to contradict the argument (supporting games on the platform intended). Since I seem to remember the CD saying something like "PC - ENGLISH" or "Windows" or something like that on it (the CD has gone back to the first owner for more testing - I think he's got it working on his PB box), and nothing in the small print saying "will only run on PB systems", there is no comparison. I don't have a credit card, so I can't go mail-order (and anyway, if I pay for it retail, I would rather have it there and then than wait the 6 weeks to get it - which I can't do anyway, for reasons already stated).įurthermore, I can't see how the PB OEM situation can in any way compare to trying to get Win version when you have Mac version. I have approached the people in these game stores about ordering the game direct, and they generally seem unhappy to do so. Where does this game cost "less than $10"? It's just that every copy htat I've seen within the last few months over here in the UK seems to be £15 ($25), and even then I haven't seen a copy anywhere in about two months.
